1. Sick Day
5 January 2025
i've been on winter break from college since the 9th of december, and i fell into the classic trap of setting a lot of goals without actually being able to accomplish them before the break ends. i wanted to do a mini-solo-gamejam, enter some rivals 2 or melee tournaments, and put out this very blog. and if i wanted to feel like a real renaissance man, i might have added "finish my first conlang dear god it's been so long" to the list. unfortunately, i got sick on the weekend after christmas.
i want to say that this sickness has impeded my ability to complete my goals, but in a weird way it also relieved any sense of guilt i had for not doing anything. idk. i passed the time by playing melee and rivals 2 when i was up to it, resulting in gameplay that i could only describe as "funny." i went for shit that just didn't make any sense, but i was joyfully surprised when things happened as i intended them to. other times, i would try to shine stall as forsburn, who doesn't have a shine, \m/ rock out \m/, and then SD. i also got a few gcc parts in the mail, and i finally have a phob 2.0.5. this controller might be worthy of its own blog post, because using it has been an eye opener.
it's been a week and my only remaining symptom is that the air pressure in my inner ears are different. pressure diff. delta p. i'd say that my left eustachian tube is too open, and my right eustachian tube is too closed. for fun, i took a hearing test that would play a sine wave in mono, then only in the left channel, and then only in the right channel, and then at different pitches and volumes. my right ear hears the sine waves as colder and flatter than the left.
but fuck it, tomorrow is a new day. i plan on installing fedora on my thinkpad and studying godot.
i promise that all future posts will have capitalization lmaooo cya next time
